ITO at the International Symposium on Open Science Clouds

The International Symposium on Open Science Clouds (ISOSC), taking place in Beijing, China, and online from September 4 – September 6 2023, has just released their detailed program. It will be three jam-packed days of presentations, panels, and open discussions on all things open science. Several of our WDS members will be session co-chairs and speakers, and ITO Research Associate CJ Woodford will be giving one of two presentations on the Global Open Research Commons project in addition to being a member of the ISOSC Deliverables Working Group.

Sessions and panels will include: overviews, updates, and future intentions from research commons around the world such as the WDS members Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) and the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF); trends and opportunities identified by the International Science Council (ISC) and the ISC Committee on Data (CODATA); as well as discussions targeting challenges and opportunities in open science policy, governance, infrastructure, and technology.

Before ISOSC begins, the ISOSC Deliverables Working Group has been working behind the scenes to get a jump on creating tangible outcomes from the symposium. The working group is preemptively identifying open science challenges and opportunities in an effort to accelerate the development of deliverables after the symposium as well as to inform questions and discussions during the symposium.

Registration for ISOSC is still open and completely free of charge. We encourage anyone able to attend one or more sessions to consider participating – we look forward to seeing you there!
