SUMMARY:Data Repository Descriptive Metadata: Recommendations & Resources -
  January 14
DESCRIPTION:In this 2.5-hour workshop\, we emphasize the importance of meta
data used to describe data repositories\, with a focus on the re3data Reg
istry of Research Data Repositories\, and the recommendations from the RD
A Common Descriptive Attributes of Research Data Repositories. While some
of these attributes are straightforward\, others are more complicated to r
epresent\; thus\, the reasons they are more difficult will be summarized a
nd time to discuss with participants is allocated. We will also cover pote
ntial use cases and applications for these metadata. Towards the end\, an
optional follow-on activity that will take place over the next couple mont
hs will be described.\n\nThe workshop will be delivered in English\, and o
ffered at two repeat sessions to support a wider spectrum of geographical
time zones. This is the listing for the first workshop on [event post_id="

se see this event listing. The workshop will be delivered by World Data Sy

Data Alliance recommendations on data repository attribute metadata\, and
how they can be represented within re3data records\n Discussions provide
insights into the more challenging attributes to represent\n Repository
staff are motivated to update existing records and maintain them regularly
thereafter\n A subset of participants are interested to participate in a
follow-on cohort to be supported through updates and provide more in-dept
h feedback\n Visibility of data repositories is increased by improved des
