{"id":2872,"date":"2022-12-16T19:26:01","date_gmt":"2022-12-16T19:26:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wds-ito.org\/Staging_001\/?p=2872"},"modified":"2024-01-18T19:29:42","modified_gmt":"2024-01-18T19:29:42","slug":"ito-at-rda20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wds-ito.org\/Staging_001\/ito-at-rda20\/","title":{"rendered":"ITO and GORC-WG at RDA20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<p>We are pleased to announce that the ITO, through our work with the Research Data Alliance Global Open Research Commons International Model Working Group<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rd-alliance.org\/groups\/gorc-international-model-wg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> (RDA GORC-WG<\/a>), will be participating in three events at the upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rd-alliance.org\/plenaries\/rda-20th-plenary-meeting-gothenburg-hybrid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">20th RDA Plenary Meeting<\/a> to be hosted in Gothenburg, Sweden in March 2023.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"360\" height=\"203\" src=\"https:\/\/wds-ito.org\/Staging_001\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GORC300_minified.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1124\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wds-ito.org\/Staging_001\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GORC300_minified.webp 360w, https:\/\/wds-ito.org\/Staging_001\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GORC300_minified-300x169.webp 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>We have been working with international partners, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rd-alliance.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RDA<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/eoscfuture.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EOSC Future<\/a> to create the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rd-alliance.org\/save-date-global-research-commons-europe-and-beyond\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Building blocks of Global Research Commons: Europe and beyond<\/a>\u201d co-located half-day event on Monday, March 20, 2023. This event will open with presentations and discussions on the current implementations and challenges of research commons globally, including an overview of the progress and findings of the GORC-WG by ITO Director Dr. Karen Payne. Representatives from research commons will then discuss solutions to these issues through presentations and panel discussions, and how the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) will rise to the challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:55%\"><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wds-ito.org\/Staging_001\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Screenshot-335.png\" alt=\"Nine hexagons fitted together in a honey-comb pattern, each with an icon and label. These Essential Elements are the foundation for the GORC-WG investigation into research commons benchmarks for interoperability. The central element in dark blue represents that way in which standards are at the core of a commons<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:45%\">\n<p>Next on the agenda will be the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rd-alliance.org\/plenaries\/rda-20th-plenary-meeting-gothenburg-hybrid\/gorc-international-model-wg-reflections-and\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GORC-WG working meeting<\/a> <s>tentatively<\/s> scheduled for the afternoon of <s>Thursday, March 23, 2023<\/s> Tuesday, March 21, 2023. In this meeting, the GORC-WG will propose a preliminary first version of our main final output. This preliminary first version will be a list of attributes, features, and KPIs that are desirable for research commons to have or aim for to be interoperable on a global scale and included in the desired global open research commons. This session will also include a case-study presentation and discussion of the application of the GORC Interest Group\u2019s (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rd-alliance.org\/groups\/global-open-research-commons-ig\">GORC-IG<\/a>) typology of research commons essential elements to the EOSC Finnish Forum and Nordic implementations of research commons, presented by members of the GORC-IG. More information on this session <s>will be<\/s> is available on the <s>preliminary programme<\/s> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rd-alliance.org\/rdas-20th-plenary-programme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">final programme<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, we are hosting a full-day hybrid <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/PFiNDKMm53ZcxwLd9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GORC-WG workshop<\/a> facilitated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rd-alliance.org\/european-support-rda-returns-roar-rda-tiger-new-support-initiative-rda-working-groups\">RDA-TIGER<\/a> on Friday March 24, 2023. The \u201cGORC International Model WG: Model Synthesis Workshop\u201d will provide GORC-WG members dedicated face-to-face working time to finalize our preliminary first version output, discuss challenges and issues that arose during the evaluation process, and prepare for creating official outputs and supporting documentation over the next six months before the November 2023 deadline.
