The WDS stands with the ISC in condemning the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, along with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/codata.org\/codata-statement-on-the-war-in-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CODATA<\/a>\u00a0and a growing number of other\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/council.science\/current\/news\/statements-international-scientific-community-conflict-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ISC members<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The WDS includes two members in Ukraine.&nbsp; The&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/wdc.org.ua\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">World Data Center for Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development<\/a>&nbsp;(WDS-Ukraine), located at the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kpi.ua\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Technical University of Ukraine<\/a>&nbsp;in Kyiv joined WDS in 2011. The&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/inform.ikd.kiev.ua\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ukrainian Geospatial Data Center<\/a>&nbsp;located at the Space Research Institute in Kyiv joined WDS in 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The WDS is deeply concerned for the freedom and wellbeing of the many employees, committee members, engineers, scientists, and their friends, families, students, and colleagues impacted by the invasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The WDS has six member repositories in Russia:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>WDC &#8211; Solar-Terrestrial Physics, Moscow (since 2011)<\/li><li>Data Centre for Geography, Moscow (since 2012)<\/li><li>WDC &#8211; Meteorology, Obninsk (since 2012)<\/li><li>WDC &#8211; Oceanography, Obninsk (since 2012)<\/li><li>WDC &#8211; Solid Earth Physics, Moscow (since 2012)<\/li><li>Centre for Astronomical Data of the Institute of Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2017)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>WDS members are expected to strive to build worldwide excellence in data services for science, and to create global communities of excellence in the pursuit of science as a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/council.science\/publications\/science-as-a-global-public-good\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">global public good<\/a>.
